Lockdown in Lowell Preview

Highly decorated CUTTHROAT Bantamweight Champion Mikey Welch (14-2) may be up against his toughest fight yet. The Olympic Center standout Greg Reddington (10-1) feels like there is nothing but bad blood between the two fighters when they step into the cage at DC’s Country Junction in Lowell, IN. “Just to me, he’s a bit cocky and runs his mouth. No doubt he’s good, but it seems like he has no respect.” Reddington said on his opponent. “When we faced off inside the cage at BRAWL @ BOURBON ST. the most derogatory thing I’ve said to him was ‘you better bring what you got, because I’ll be bringing what I got.’ Then we stare down he calls me a ‘pussy’ as we walk away from each other.” When asked about his feelings towards Team Colon’s Mikey Welch, Greg did not hesitate in his reply “I’m not 100% sure why, but all I know is I don’t like him.” 

Not looking past his toughest battle as an amateur, Reddington reflected on his future and what might be his last fight before turning PRO. “After Welch, I have Greco-Roman/Freestyle national tournament a few weeks after, and then, I would like to have my first pro fight. I plan to have 1 or 2 pro fights before I turn 20.” With the recent news that CUTTHROAT will be having a PRO MMA show in the very near future Greg said that the possibility of being on that card would be entertaining. “I have my coach set up all my fights. But the guys from Cutthroat are awesome, so it’s definitely possible.”

Mikey Welch will be defending his CUTTHROAT title against Greg Reddington in the main event at Lockdown in Lowell on April 16th 2010. Also on the card will feature 14 bouts including middleweights Leo Husarik vs. Nathanial Joyner, lightweights Lance Surma, Brandon Slayter and Chad Fredricksen vs. LaQuinn Swift.
