Renzo Gracie vs. Matt Hughes

Renzo started his career back in 1997. He participated in PRIDE 1, IFL, Vale Tudo, RINGS, and Elite XC. This will be his first fight in the UFC against a Hall of Fame fighter in Matt Hughes.

Matt Hughes started his career in 1998. He has fought 50 MMA fights with a pro record of 43-7. Hughes has been a 2x UFC champ, and has defeated every welterweight champion other then Pat Miletich, who he started his career training with. Hughes is one of the best welterweights in the world.

With a name like Gracie, we all know what skill set Renzo will be bring to the fight. The only way Gracie will win this fight is by submitting Hughes, he really has no chance if he keeps the fight standing.

Hughes will do what Hughes always does, get his opponent down and ground and pound them out. He is excellent in keeping top control and grinding out his opponent.

This fight has two possible outcomes, Hughes will get a quick KO or it will go to decision for Hughes. I don’t see how Gracie can win this fight. The UFC really threw him in the fire putting him against such a great fighter in his first UFC fight.

It should be a slower fight if on the ground you will not see fast submissions with both fighters age playing against them. Overall, still a great fight between two great fighters. Is Hughes the next “Gracie Killer”?
