Gilbert Grappling’s Adam Ward Goes Pro

The long-awaited professional debut of Gilbert Grappling fighter Adam Ward was originally set to happen this coming March. Ward, the Brawl at Bourbon Street featherweight champion, holding an amatuer record of 9-3 was preparing a fight with Shannon Slack at Ruckus Ent II, in Addison Illinois. Little did Ward know that he would be getting the call to take a fight on little over a week’s notice to make an earlier-than-expected professional debut. Not only did he get that sudden notification, he was also informed that he would be fighting in the famous Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Adam Ward has made a name for himself as a hard-hitting, aggressive, athletic featherweight in the amateur division, holding wins over other highly-touted fighters such as Sam Agushi and Martin Jimenez. Fighting for the famed Gilbert Grappling and compiling a record of 9-3, Ward felt it was time for him to take the step up in his mma career, leading to the decision for him to officially become professional.

Ward will be facing off against (1-0 pro) Ryan Vaccaro on Friday, February 19th, in the sold-out Ring Of Combat. Vaccaro is a NJ native with a noted amateur record of 4-2, and won his professional debut in November of 2009, defeating Julio Rosario by unanimous decision at a previous Ring Of Combat event.

Traveling to fight however is not a new concept for the 24 year old Adam Ward, where on Halloween of 2009, Ward defeated Manfred Chavarria in the very first round in the country of Costa Rica.
