George Sotiropoulos vs. Joe Stevenson
Sotiropoulos will be fighting in his homeland at UFC 110 vs. Joe Stevenson. This should be a entertaining fight between the former cast member of TUF season 6 (Sotiropoulos) and the winner of TUF season 2 (Stevenson).
Sotiropoulos has a great ground game. He is a blackbelt in BJJ and has submitted the majority of his opponents in the UFC. All of his fights have ended by the end of the second round. With a win Sotiropoulos will move to the next level of fighter. I think that with a loss he will stay with the other UFC newbie’s. I don’t think the UFC would cut him but he is two losses away. It is always a critical point in a fighter’s career to win the first few fights and win a tuff fight.
Joe Stevenson…aka Guillotine Choke Stevenson has been fighting forever, 31-10 in MMA. He is a great fighter, has fought Penn for the belt and lost. He is on a two fight win streak beating Nate Diaz and Spencer Fisher. This will be a good fight for Joe. If he wins it will move him up and with a few more wins might get another shot at the belt.
This will be Sotiropoulos hardest fight. I am sure he will have a great career in the UFC. He will have his hands full with the much more experienced Stevenson. I think Joe would be foolish to go to the ground with Sotiropoulos. He has better hands and should try to keep the fight standing. Should be a good fight, don’t see it going the distance but stranger things have happened. Sotiropoulos has the ability to submit Stevenson. I just don’t want to see this fight go to the judges.
