The Ultimate Fighter 10 Episode 10

November 23, 2009 by Matthew J. Swanson

Here are the highlights from episode 10 of The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights.

- Matt Mitrione continued his bellyaching about his phantom head injury, claiming that he had swelling of his brain. Everyone is annoyed with this guy because he either needs to fight or not fight, and it has nothing to do with any injuries and everything to do with his determination. I mean, there is something wrong with his brain, but if you have watched more than an episode or two, you know that it is apparent there was brain stuff going on with this fella well before his fighting career began.

- To address the trouble with Matt Mitrione’s indecisiveness, Dana White came by the gym to let everyone know that they either need to fight or go home. Well, that’s essentially what he said, but I’ve left out the 13 f-words he used. Do all presidents of companies swear this much? Has anyone seen this link? The beauty of that video is that he uploaded that video himself, and he didn’t think to keep the word “faggot” and calling a woman a “dumb bitch” out. Well, I guess when you’re the president ruling over a bunch of badasses, you need to be a little scary. And a misogynist. And homophobic.

- The coaches squared off in a two-on-two beach volleyball game, and they were all awful. But, the winning team got $1,500 a piece for their team of fighters, which made the fighters suddenly very interested in watching some guys with zero skill play volleyball. Of course, after winning, Rashad literally waved the money in Rampage’s face, which was quite rude, but Rampage probably would have done the same if the tables were turned. These guys truly hate each other.

- Speaking of Rashad, he claimed the best policy in coaching his remaining fighters, since they would largely be squaring off against one another, given that all but one of Rampage’s guys were eliminated, would be to just let them coach themselves. However, he gave pretty extensive training to John Madsen, because “wrestlers have to stick together,” and he basically ignored Brendan Schaub.

- Turns out Brendan didn’t need Rashad’s help. He got slammed a couple times by some impressive take-downs, but he managed to counter most everything on the ground against John, who seemed to know how to get a guy on his back but needs work after that fact. Brendan caught him with a powerful TKO punch in the second.

- Be sure to tune in as the action heats up, and be sure to come back for another update. Oh, and if somehow Dana White reads this, please call me a fagot. I need the press.
